People’s Party to Restore Confident in Constitution
A People’s Party led government after 2012 National Election would restore back the constitution, judiciary and democracy of Papua New Guinea.
Leader of the party Peter Ipatas told over 4,000 people of Hula in Rigo Central province on Tuesday this week.
He said the pillar of the constitution that holds the country together was tarnished over the last ten months by the defector government led by Peter O’Neill and Belden Nama.
Mr Ipatas said the country was going in a wrong direction when the constitution, judiciary were being manipulated by people that wanted to run by force.
He said a new government which People’s Party was part of it would make sure to restore the constitution, Judiciary and democracy of PNG.
Mr Ipatas kick started the party’s campaign for the 2012 National Election on a very high note at the coastal village of Keapara in Hula, Central Province Tuesday this week.
Leader of the Party Peter Ipatas accompanied by Acting National President Douglas Makana Ivarato drove into Hula to endorse their candidate for Rigo to a rousing welcome.
He was there to endorse former media personality and director of Brain Bell Group of Companies Mr Friend Kini is contesting the Rigo Open Seat under the People’s Party banner. The seat is now occupied by Ano Pala, Foreign Affairs Minister in the defector O’Neill-Namah government.
Mr Ipatas will be touring other parts of Papua New Guinea including his own turf Enga over the next three weeks to campaign for the candidates and selling the party to voters.
He told the people of Rigo that People’s Party was a grass root orientated party with the heart of ordinary citizens at heart.
Mr Ipatas said therefore a People’s Party led government after this election would focus more on the major rural population then urban minority.
He said come from a local level political background as ward councilor, to Local Level Government President, deputy governor and Governor he knew that metrics of dealing with the problems of rural Papua New Guineans.
“The cries of our local people are the focus for the People’s Party. Our motto is to deliver to the people basics for their daily livelihood,” he said.
The Governor for Enga said over the last fifteen years his government has turned Enga a province left in the wildness over three decades in what a recognized place today.
He said the party’s candidate Friend Kini was a man with wealth of experience and exposure and the right choice the people of Rigo should cast their votes.
Mr Ipatas said Mr Kini’s inclusion to the party was a bonus because he (Kini) would provide prudent leadership for the people on the floor of parliament and government.
He also assured the people that a People’s Party government would establish a provincial headquarter for the Central Province.
Mr Ipatas said Central was a large province with big landmass and heavily populated and needed a head quarter rather than operating out of National Capital District.
